Glide — Retro Motion

Inspired by “Glide” by NEIKED & Portugal. The Man, this project transforms the energy of the track into a vibrant retro motion design experience inspired by the visual language of the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

The animation combines vintage graphic design with modern motion techniques, creating a nostalgic visual world filled with bold typography, geometric shapes, grain, halftone textures, analog imperfections, and expressive transitions.

Typography slides across the screen.

Shapes bounce and rotate with the beat.

Colors shift between scenes.

Retro patterns expand, distort, and transform into new compositions.

The entire project is designed around the rhythm of the music, allowing the soundtrack to control the pace and energy of the visuals.

Instead of recreating one specific era, the project blends different retro influences into a cohesive visual identity—combining vintage advertising, old-school television graphics, arcade-inspired visuals, analog textures, and colorful editorial layouts.

Film grain, chromatic imperfections, halftones, scanlines, light leaks, and subtle distortion give the animation an authentic analog character while maintaining smooth and polished motion.
